and I’m so glad I finally did.
Whenever I searched for the best restaurants in Konkuk University area,
this place kept popping up,
so it had been on my list
for a while.
This time, I finally made it there.
It already had tons of reviews
as a popular Konkuk University meat spot,
and it’s also well known
as a go-to place for grilled pork belly,
so my expectations were pretty high before I walked in.

along with a wide range of beef and pork dishes
with staff grilling the meat for you,
so you can enjoy everything at the perfect doneness without any hassle.
Fresh banchan (Korean side dishes) and add-on menu items
make the meal even more satisfying.
There’s also a solid lineup of drinks like soju and beer,
making it a great pick for company dinners or casual group gatherings.
The interior is spacious and clean,
so it works just as well for family meals as it does for dinners with friends.
It’s an easy walk from Konkuk University Station,
and reservations plus group dining are available.
The location was even better because it’s just 1 minute from Konkuk University Station
Kogi Gubneun Nom Konkuk University Branch
is right by Exit 1
of Konkuk University Station.
It’s genuinely close to the station,
so it was easy to find,
and it also felt like
a really convenient place to meet up.
The only thing to note is that there’s no private parking,
so if you’re driving,
I’d recommend using
Gana Parking Lot
nearby.
The access is so convenient
that I immediately understood
why so many people
search this place as a Konkuk University restaurant.

An exterior that stands out even from a distance
As soon as I arrived,
the first thing that caught my eye
was the huge sign out front.
Even the name itself,
Kogi Gubneun Nom,
makes it obvious
at a glance
that this is a serious meat place.
The exterior looked clean,
and it had that lively
Korean BBQ energy the area is known for,
so even before stepping inside,
I was already getting excited.

A spacious interior that works for group dinners too
Once I walked in,
the space felt much bigger than I expected.
The restaurant operates across
the basement level,
first floor, and second floor,
for a total of three levels.
Each floor had plenty of seating,
and the tables were spaced out enough
that it never felt cramped,
which made the whole meal really comfortable.
It felt like a great Konkuk University meat spot
for company dinners,
group gatherings,
or even a family meal.
True to its reputation as a popular Konkuk University restaurant,
people kept coming in even on a weekday.

A menu that was genuinely fun to browse
Once we sat down,
I took a look through the menu.
Starting with their signature
fresh beef short rib finger meat,
then marinated beef short rib finger meat,
pork belly, and pork neck,
they had both beef and pork
on one menu,
so there were plenty of options.
Out of everything,
the one that stood out most to me
was the grilled wagyu oxtail.
I honestly don’t think I’ve seen
many Konkuk University meat restaurants
serving that.
We ordered fresh beef short rib finger meat,
marinated beef short rib finger meat,
grilled wagyu oxtail,
doenjang sulbap and bibim guksu,
and that ended up being a great call.

The complimentary side dishes paired beautifully with the meat
After we placed our order,
the banchan started coming out.
They set the table with the basics first,
including soy-marinated onions and pickled perilla leaves,
all of which were perfect
to eat with grilled meat.
It wasn’t overdone,
but it didn’t feel lacking either.
It was exactly the right amount.
Instead of crowding the table,
they brought out only what you actually need,
and I liked that even more.
For a place known for great grilled pork belly,
the side dishes also
matched the meat really well.

The charcoal setup had me excited for that smoky flavor
A little after ordering,
they brought out the charcoal grill,
and the heat looked
stronger than I expected.
You could already smell
that gentle charcoal aroma,
and I had a feeling the meat was going to get that perfect fire-kissed finish.
At that point,
I couldn’t wait
to get the meat on the grill.
It was one of those moments
that made me understand
why this place is so well known for charcoal-grilled meat.

The kind of meat platter that looks good before you even take a bite
Not long after,
the meats we ordered
started arriving one by one.
From the fresh beef short rib finger meat
to the marinated version
and the wagyu oxtail,
everything looked fantastic.
The pale pink color
made everything look extra fresh,
and my first thought was,
this quality at this price?
That really surprised me
in the best way.
I could already tell from the presentation alone
why this spot gets
so many great reviews.

The fresh beef short rib finger meat was even better than I expected
I started with
the fresh beef short rib finger meat.
From the first bite,
it tasted exactly as good as it looked.
It had just the right amount of fat,
and almost no gamey smell at all.
What surprised me most
was how much more tender it was
than I expected,
so I kept reaching for another piece.
The juices were there,
and the more I chewed,
the more that rich, nutty beef flavor came through.
Personally,
out of the beef short rib finger meat
I’ve had around the area,
this was one of the most satisfying versions.

The marinated beef short rib finger meat was even more tender
Next up
was the marinated beef short rib finger meat.
Compared with the fresh version,
it definitely had
a softer bite.
The marinade
wasn’t overly sweet,
and it soaked in gently,
so it didn’t overpower
the natural flavor of the beef.
There was no off smell at all,
and personally,
even if you came here
mainly looking for grilled pork belly,
I still think
the beef short rib finger meat
is something you should absolutely try.

The grilled wagyu oxtail was my personal favorite
Finally,
it was time for
the dish I was most excited about:
grilled wagyu oxtail.
I’ve always liked oxtail,
so I had high hopes,
but it ended up being
way better than expected.
Oxtail can easily turn chewy,
but this one was sliced thin,
so it pulled apart surprisingly easily.
The rich, fatty flavor
was fantastic,
and the more I chewed, the more flavor opened up.
Honestly,
this one dish alone
made me want to come back.
If you’re looking for something a little different
at a Konkuk University restaurant,
I’d really recommend
the grilled wagyu oxtail.

The side dishes held up all the way to the end
To finish,
we also tried the doenjang sulbap and bibim guksu.
The doenjang sulbap tasted exactly like
that familiar, comforting experience
of mixing rice into doenjang jjigae.
It was easy to enjoy and very approachable.
The bibim guksu, on the other hand,
was more impressive than I expected.
The sweet-and-tangy sauce
worked so well with the meat
that the combination really stood out.
It also helped
cut through the richness and refresh the palate.
In the end,
the two of us cleared
almost everything from the meat to the sides.
After trying everything,
I could completely see
why this place has stayed popular
for so long.
What impressed me most
was the quality of the meat for the price.
From the fresh beef short rib finger meat
to the marinated version
and the wagyu oxtail,
the overall condition of the meat
was excellent,
and the freshness was obvious.
These days,
it’s honestly not easy
to find this level of meat quality
at a price that still feels reasonable,
so the value here really stood out.
The staff were also
genuinely kind,
and from setting up the charcoal
to checking in throughout the meal,
they were attentive in a way that made the whole experience even better.
Personally,
if I were looking for a Konkuk University meat restaurant,
this is somewhere I’d happily revisit.
If you’re searching for the best grilled pork belly
or a reliable restaurant in the Konkuk University area,
this is a place
I’d feel confident recommending.
Next time,
I want to go back
and try
more of the other meat dishes one by one.
